Infrastructure Engineer I

This role will be responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of information technology infrastructure, including physical data center and networking space, physical and virtual servers, SAN infrastructure, networking components and routing, Active Directory and Group Policy, and other activities related to enterprise-class infrastructure architecture.


  • Configures, installs, and maintains complex multi-site TCP/IP and VoIP networks, including LAN/WAN, Wireless, ISP, Data Center, and Network Security technologies in line with business architectural needs and industry best practices
  • Configures, installs, and maintains complex multi-site server infrastructure, including SAN, Server and Application Load Balancing, Clustering, Virtualization, Hybrid Cloud, Upgrades/Patching, Backup/Recovery, Security
  • Ensures appropriate network and server monitoring and security systems and alerts are implemented and current
  • Designs, implements, and tests infrastructure Disaster Recovery topology and protocols for Tier I critical business components
  • Creates and management infrastructure management and support scripts
  • Documents and maintains network and infrastructure physical and logical diagrams
  • Drives and coordinates incident management for infrastructure-related issues
  • Communicates effectively and efficiently with business lines and vendor partners regarding infrastructure support and analyses
  • Develops, recommends, and implements new or updated technologies and procedures to ensure streamlined, secure, and scalable systems
  • Provides 24/7 oncall infrastructure support
  • Lead by example and demonstrate high performance in the areas of customer service, collaboration, teamwork, reliability, productivity, and execution


  • Strong understanding of Layer 2-4 routing and switching technologies and protocols
  • Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills; this position requires a high level of independence

  • Network services including DNS, DHCP, SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS, and SSL
  • 802.11 Wireless Networking
  • MPLS configuration and management
  • VOIP and virtual callcenters
  • Cisco switches and routers
  • Network and Server Load Balancing
  • Fortigate firewall configuration
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
  • Virtual Private Networking (VPN)
  • Infrastructure Operating Systems including Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and Linux
  • Microsoft Active Directory and Domain Services
  • Microsoft Exchange 2010
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and 2014
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects such as server, routers, and switches

Training and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an information technology field (e.g., Computer/Management Information Systems (MIS/CIS), Computer Science (CS), Electrical/Computer Engineering (EE/CE), or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience
  • Two or more years of relevant and progressive experience directly related to network and server architecture implementation and management across LAN/WAN, Wireless, ISP, Data Center, SAN, Load Balancing, Clustering, Virtualization, Hybrid Cloud, Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery technologies
  • CCIE, CISSP, MCP, and/or CompTIA certification preferred
  • One or more years hands-on experience working with Cisco routers and switches
