Licensing Manager

SelectQuote Senior is looking for a Licensing Manager to join our team in Overland Park, KS. The Licensing Manager is a key member of the operations team; overseeing the licensing of all roles within the division that require an insurance license for the sale and marketing of insurance products. This role will evaluate and manage all regulations for licensing activities and ensure appropriate implementation of strategic licensing decisions.  The strategic process will include an analytical component as to how and where the company licenses agents.  This role will be responsible for improving carrier feedback loops on the licensing process as well as the technological maintenance for SelectCare and how licensing is maintained in the CRM.  This position will work closely with the recruiting department to verify that candidates are providing all necessary information in the early stages of the hiring process to ensure that licensing requirements are reached.  This role will have both internal and external communication requirements including but not limited to vendors, state agencies, sales management and executives.  The Licensing Manager role will have a direct financial impact to the company via the speed of which agents are licensed and able to sell as well as a reduction in lost commissions due to licensing issues.


The ideal candidate will possess an analytic mindset, acute attention to detail, and a demonstrated drive for personal success.   They will also strive to improve process and suggest and implement new ideas that increase speed, decrease errors, and automate wherever possible.


  • Maintain records, compile information, and submit requisite forms in order to keep agents licensed and ready-to-sell.
  • Coordinate with applicants, state agencies, carriers, and sales management to ensure timely and efficient license acquisition and renewal.
  • Analyze company performance history to determine optimum levels of productivity, helping to minimize waste.
  • Develop and manage licensing budget for all sales and fulfillment departments.
  • Analyze holistic licensing strategy and recommend efficiency improvements to management team
  • Implement process change and effectively monitor and measure results
  • Produce clear and concise presentations regarding projects and other assigned tasks.
  • Provide analysis for strategic initiatives through modeling and sensitivity tool usage.
  • Become familiar with customer relationship management software (SelectCare).
  • Suggest system/process upgrades to improve process optimization


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform additional ad-hoc reports and projects as assigned from time to time by superiors.


  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Proficient in SQL or aptitude to become proficient quickly with training.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines regarding seasonal hiring volumes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Functional analytical skills (projecting, costing, budgeting, etc.).
  • High level of self-motivation; ability to accomplish goals independently.
  • Articulate and well-spoken; strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented aptitude; a high degree of accuracy is required.

Training and Experience

  • Strong academic record with a BA/BS degree or equivalent experience required.
